About Apple Adding ChatGPT to Every iPhone, Will Use it To Analyze Private Data

In early October 2024, a rumor circulated on social media that tech giant Apple is adding ChatGPT, a generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) program, to every iPhone.

One X account claimed: “Apple is adding chat GPT to every iPhone, meaning your personal data is about to be analyzed like never before.”

(@Illuminatibot on X)

Another X user replied: “I’m shocked that anyone would still be using ‘smart’ phones. NOTHING on your home computer, let alone your phone, is safe or secure when you have a smartphone.”

In sum, it is indeed true that Apple is integrating GenAI, including ChatGPT, into their products. However, not “every iPhone” will be impacted by the rollout, thus this claim contains a mixture of true and false information.

What Is True?

Apple Intelligence Launch

At their Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2024, the company announced Apple Intelligence, which they described as “the personal intelligence system that combines the power of generative models with users’ personal context — at the core of iPhone, iPad, and Mac to deliver intelligence that’s incredibly useful and relevant.”

As of now, Apple has not confirmed an exact release date, but news agency Bloomberg reported the update would go live on Oct. 28, 2024. Regarding which devices Apple Intelligence will be available on, Apple stated:

Apple Intelligence will be available as a free software update. The first set of Apple Intelligence features will be available in beta next month as part of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, with more features rolling out in the months to come. It will be available on iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and Mac with M1 and later, with device and Siri language set to U.S. English. Additional languages and platforms are coming over the course of the next year.

CNN said Apple Intelligence — the collective brand name for the corporation’s AI tools — is “intended to be more of a personal assistant than anything else, with an emphasis on ‘personal.'” The article added:

It takes in specific information about your relationships and contacts, messages and emails you’ve sent, events you’ve been to, meetings on your calendar and other highly individualized bits of data about your life. And then it uses that data to, Apple hopes, make your life a little easier — helping you dig up a photo you took from that concert years ago, finding the right attachment to put on an email, or ranking your mobile notifications by priority and urgency.

ChatGPT Integration

As part of the broader AI initiative, Apple is indeed introducing a partnership with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, a GenAI chatbot.

While Apple Intelligence is focused on the personalized user experience, third-party ChatGPT’s integration is intended to give users faster access to the GenAI chatbot tool, which assists with more extensive searches, prompts, or the composition of documents that require knowledge beyond the users’ personal experience. Apple stated:

With ChatGPT from OpenAI integrated into Siri and Writing Tools, you get even more expertise when it might be helpful for you — no need to jump between tools. Siri can tap into ChatGPT for certain requests, including questions about photos or documents. And with Compose in Writing Tools, you can create and illustrate original content from scratch.

You control when ChatGPT is used and will be asked before any of your information is shared. Anyone can access ChatGPT for free, without creating an account. ChatGPT subscribers can connect accounts to access paid features within these experiences.

Elsewhere, the corporation said: “For users who choose to access ChatGPT through Siri or Writing Tools, privacy protections are built in — their IP addresses are obscured, and OpenAI won’t store requests … ChatGPT’s data-use policies apply for those who choose to connect their account.”

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said in a June 10, 2024, news release: “Apple shares our commitment to safety and innovation, and this partnership aligns with OpenAI’s mission to make advanced AI accessible to everyone. Together with Apple, we’re making it easier for people to benefit from what AI can offer.”

Therefore, it is true that Apple is integrating ChatGPT into their Apple Intelligence products, but only for more recent models of their devices.

What Requires More Context?

The claim that customer data will be “analyzed like never before” requires additional context. A statement from the tech giant, in which it said it will treat user data with the utmost care, opposed this element of the claim: “Apple Intelligence is designed to protect users’ privacy at every step. A cornerstone of Apple Intelligence is on-device processing, and many of the models that power it run entirely on device.” This technology will ensure users’ data “is never stored or shared with Apple,” the company added, “it is used only to fulfill their request.”

However, data privacy does get murkier with Apple Intelligence’s expanded features due to the optional integration of ChatGPT.

Apple claimed to be taking measures to protect customer data and to only use it for its personalized Apple Intelligence features, saying: “You control when ChatGPT is used and will be asked before any of your information is shared. Anyone can access ChatGPT for free, without creating an account. ChatGPT subscribers can connect accounts to access paid features within these experiences.”

However, when a user connects their device to ChatGPT for expanded functionality, they are then agreeing to ChatGPT’s liberal use of their customer data.

OpenAI’s data-use policy reads in part:

We continuously improve our models through research breakthroughs as well as exposure to real-world problems and data. When you share your content with us, it helps our models become more accurate and better at solving your specific problems and it also helps improve their general capabilities and safety. We don’t use your content to market our services or create advertising profiles of you — we use it to make our models more helpful. ChatGPT, for instance, improves by further training on the conversations people have with it, unless you opt out.

Opting out of ChatGPT’s AI training is possible, and can be done by going into your ChatGPT account settings on iOS or the web, selecting Data Controls and disabling the default “Improve the model for everyone” option. This setting syncs between devices, according to OpenAI.

Therefore, Apple said the company will not be analyzing customer data through their Apple Intelligence products, but once a user agrees to OpenAI’s terms in order to use ChatGPT, their data when using that specific tool could be accessed.

In short, Apple is adding integrated ChatGPT access to particular iPhone models, and if users don’t opt out, their data and queries when using ChatGPT could be used by parent company OpenAI to help train its artificial intelligence models. However …

ChatGPT and Apple Intelligence, Apple’s new personalized AI features, will only be available on newer devices, not all devices as is claimed. Further, Apple said it would protect user data by using a combination of on-device processing and secure external processing called Private Cloud Compute that would not store any user data.

Did Disney Announced ‘Discrimination Days’ That Ban White People from Theme Parks

 (Mouse Trap News/TikTok)
The Walt Disney Company announced “Discrimination Days,” on which white people won’t be allowed in its theme parks, a rumor that is circulating online. On Sept. 28, 2024, the TikTok account Mouse Trap News posted a clip claiming that the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, “will use a proprietary DNA-testing software to determine whether or not someone is white and can be allowed inside the parks. However, it’s worth noting that people who identify as nonwhite will be allowed in.”

@mousetrapnews This is one of the most controversial decisions by Disney! #disneyworld #disneynews #controversy #discrimination #disneytickets ? Married Life (From “Up”) – Sergy el Som

Some readers seemed to interpret the rumor as a factual recounting of real-life events. One TikTok commenter wrote, “So we discriminate against white people to stop discrimination,” while another responded, “A day dedicated to non discrimination by withholding right of entry to a specific group of people. Sounds like a double standard to me.”

The claim was also shared on the official Mouse Trap News website the day prior, Sept. 27, in an article providing additional detail about the alleged change in admission rules at Disney amusement parks:

Disney World Announces Discrimination Days

Disney World announces Discrimination Days. On these days, anyone who is white will not be allowed in their theme parks. This is an effort to provide a safe space free from discrimination either now or in the past.

The idea is to repair current and past injustices against non-whites in the United States. According to an official statement, “We are excited to announce Discrimination Days. On these days, only guests who are non-white or identify as non-white will be allowed inside Disney World theme parks. We want to give guests the best experience and what better way to do that than with Discrimination Days.”

Disney will use patented DNA testing software to determine whether or not someone is white and can be allowed in the parks. However, it’s worth noting that people who identify as non-white will be allowed in. In fact, many are seeing this as a potential loophole

While Disney may do a DNA test to confirm whether or not you are white, you may be able to get in as long as you say you identify as non-white. The reason people believe this is because they don’t think Disney will discriminate against how someone self-identifies, only their race.

Claim – The Walt Disney Company announced “Discrimination Days,” in which white people aren’t allowed to attend the theme parks.

However, there was no evidence to support these claims. No such announcement was reported by any reputable news outlet, nor on Disney’s own website.

Rather, the rumor originated with Mouse Trap News, a website that describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature. Its “About” page states:

Mouse Trap News is the world’s best satire and parody site. We write fake stories about Disney Parks stuff. From Disney Park announcements to Disney Hotel and resort news to made-up Disney partnerships, you can be assured that anything you read here is not true, real, or accurate, but it is fun. So technically our slogan The Moused Trusted Name in Disney News isn’t true, but we thought it was creative and funny, so we are running with it.

Moreover, the Mouse Trap News TikTok account describes itself as “!!Real Disney News That is 100% FAKE!!  Visit our website for full stories”

In conclusion, we labeled ‘Satire’

Psychiatrist Hideki Wada Published A Book Called ’80-Year-Old Wall’

Psychiatrist Hideki Wada published a book called “80-Year-Old Wall” in March this year, and at that time Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also purchased a copy.

As soon as the book was released, sales exceeded 500,000 copies, becoming the best-selling book at the moment. If it continues at this rate, sales of this book will exceed 1 million copies, making it the best-selling book in Japan this year.

Dr. Wada, 61, is a doctor specializing in mental illnesses in the elderly. In the past 35 years, he has treated about 6,000 patients.

To sum up the book “80-Year-Old Wall” in one sentence, it is “an ode to 80-year-olds.”

Specifically, this book tells 80-year-olds how to live to 100 in good health in the context of the “100-year-old” era.

Currently, the “average healthy life expectancy” (the age at which one is physically and mentally independent and healthy) of Japanese men is 72.68 years old and that of women is 75.38 years old.

In terms of “average life expectancy”, Japanese men are 81.64 years old and women are 87.74 years old.

Subtracting “average healthy life expectancy” from “average life expectancy”, men have about 9 years and women have about 12 years of “time requiring care from others”.

How to minimize this time is the core content of Dr. Wada’s masterpiece.

According to this point of view, the elderly do not need to take sleeping pills frequently. It is a natural phenomenon that sleep time decreases with age, and no one will die from insomnia. 24 hours a day, sleep when you want to sleep, wake up when you want to wake up, this is the privilege of the elderly.

In addition, the cholesterol level that the elderly generally worry about is not a big deal even if it is high to a certain extent. Because cholesterol is the raw material for the human body to produce immune cells.

The more immune cells there are, the lower the risk of cancer in the elderly. In addition, part of male hormones is also composed of cholesterol. If the cholesterol level is too low, the physical and mental health of men will be unsustainable.

Similarly, it doesn’t matter if the blood pressure is high. More than 50 years ago, humans were generally malnourished.

Therefore, when the blood pressure reaches about 150, the blood vessels will rupture. But now few people are malnourished, so even if the blood pressure exceeds 200, it will not cause blood vessels to rupture.

Dr. Wada summarized the secrets of 80-year-olds to become “lucky people” into “44 sentences”, as follows:

  1. Keep walking
  2. Take a deep breath when you feel irritated
  3. Exercise to the extent that your body does not feel stiff
  4. Drink more water when using the air conditioner in summer
  5. “Diapers” are very helpful for increasing mobility
  6. The more times you chew, the more energetic your body and brain will be
  7. Memory loss is not due to aging, but to long-term disuse of the brain
  8. There is no need to take a lot of medicine
  9. There is no need to deliberately lower blood pressure and blood sugar levels
  10. Being alone does not mean loneliness, but enjoying a relaxing time
  11. Being lazy is not a shameful thing
  12. No need to pay for a driver’s license (considering that it is more dangerous for the elderly to drive a motor vehicle, Japan has quietly started a movement to “ask the elderly to pay for their driver’s license”)
  13. Do only what you like, not what you hate
  14. You can still have sexual desire when you are old
  15. No matter what, don’t stay at home all the time
  16. Eat whatever you want, a slightly plump figure is just right
  17. Do everything carefully
  18. Don’t deal with people you hate
  19. Don’t watch TV all the time
  20. Instead of fighting the disease to the end, it is better to coexist with it
  21. “There will always be a way out when the car reaches the mountain” is the magic spell that makes the elderly happy
  22. Eat meat, especially cheap red meat is best
  23. Keep the bath time within 10 minutes
  24. Don’t force yourself if you can’t sleep
  25. Doing happy things is most conducive to improving brain activity
  26. Say whatever you want to say, don’t worry too much
  27. Find a “family doctor” as soon as possible
  28. Don’t be too patient or force yourself, there’s nothing wrong with being a “bad old man”
  29. Sometimes it’s okay to change your words
  30. Dementia in the last stage of life is a gift from God
  31. Stop learning and you will get old
  32. Don’t be greedy for glory, everything you have now is good enough
  33. Innocence is the privilege of the elderly
  34. The more troublesome things are, the more interesting they are
  35. Sunbathing makes people happy
  36. Do things that are good for others
  37. Live leisurely today
  38. Desire is the source of longevity
  39. Live in an optimistic state
  40. Breathe easily
  41. The rules of life are in your own hands
  42. Accept everything calmly
  43. People with cheerful personalities are very popular
  44. A smile brings good luck

Japanese, Chinese or other races may have different views on the above tips. But we have to admit that there are many suggestions worth referring to.

Most importantly, the new word “lucky age” is really great!

It’s worth reading by following every point again & again in our life on this universe.

Even if there is no gain, I am sure that there will not be any pain.

Our anatomy lecturer always said this statement “brain is the only organ that grows with use”.

His words always ring in my head to this day, oftentimes I think my brain has grown a lot.
